Mark Spitz
7 Time Gold Medal Winner

There is a certain type of image people expect to see when they meet me. By using the Orbitrek I personally can stay in shape. I come from swimming, and swimming is a non-impact sport, and I am used to exercising in that similar fashion. The actual elliptical motion and the workout you gain from your quads and your upper body with your hand motion - it's superb! It's not like a treadmill where you might spend 30 minutes on that then have to go to another piece of equipment for your upper body for another 30 minutes. I personally don't want to waste that kind of time.

I know when I am on the Orbitrek Elite, I am burning calories, building muscles at the same time. What I have been accustomed to for 30 years, I can get that on the Orbitrek Elite. It truly is a full body workout. I definitely give my gold seal of approval!

Alicia & Dana
Pro Beach Volleyball Players

As a beach volleyball player we are constantly diving, or jumping and landing - it is constant impact. The Orbitrek it's not jarring our knees. It's so low impact.

I love the Orbitrek, it's a great machine, you are getting your arms and shoulders, your legs, your calves, your quads, you get your core. It's a total body workout!

Ginger Lewis
Country Music Singer

I am a country rock singer and I tour cross country, over seas for the troops, it's great, it's very fulfilling and rewarding. I do allot of dancing onstage, I am always moving, so I have to stay in shape.

The Orbitrek is perfect for me, 20 minutes and that is all I need, It's great fro cardio, it's great for burning calories and building muscles. I feel it in my legs, my glutes, my hamstrings, my calves, my triceps, my biceps.

Turn & Burn - How easy is that!
You just crank it up and you feel more muscles burning, and that's the easiest, simplest awesome way to do it!

I did have orthoscopic surgery on my knees, so sometimes they hurt when I am on the treadmill, stairmasters. But when I workout on my Orbitrek, I never had problems with my knees. I completely glide and there is no pressure. I love Orbitrek is a great fantastic workout!

Dear Thane, The customer comments/ queries are very helpful. A quick question - If I use less or no resistence when working out, will this prolong the life of the resistance belt? A previous reviewer said that they disintegrate. How long does the belt typically last if used everyday for 20 minutes with resistance? How much are replacement belts?

Thanks

-----------------------------------

Thane Says:

As with any machine that uses a belt to produce resistance or friction, the belt will wear away after time.
However, the lifespan of a belt should be well over a couple of years, and replacements can be purchased from our customer services for just £9

Please call 0161 210 2560

Thane Says:

The Orbitrek gives a total body workout, and is especially good for toning up legs and tightening stomachs!!

We would always advise you to speak to your GP first.

I need new bearings for our Orbitrek Platinum. Part number 21 "Bushing 2". I spoke to your Customer Services, but you no longer stock this spare part. Your person suggested I "Google" for the spares, but I can't find a stockist there. Please tell me who I can get the bearings from. Thanks! Jim.

Thane says... It may be worth trying ebay for odd parts

cant wait to have one

Reviewer's comments: Posted on May 10, 2008, 3:45 pm by BOB

DOES ORBITREK COME ALREADY ASSEMBLED? I AM NOT TERRIBLY MECHANICAL.

Thane says:
Unfortunately, we cannot deliver the Orbitrek assembled as it would be too large and the postage would be too high. But the assembly instructions are very simple and it will take someone with no technical skills 30-40 minutes to attached the pedals, handles and legs and tighten the bolts. There is not much else to assemble.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on May 2, 2008, 11:19 am by Asim

How would i return an orbitrek?

Thane says... we recommend either www.senditnow.com or www.parcel2go.com as they provide a cost effective, insurable and trackable courier service

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Apr 29, 2008, 6:54 am by ASaxon

I am about to place an order for the Orbitrek Elite as it seems to be the best one I've reviewed, at this price level, for ages. I just have to say to Thane that I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your replies to some very dense queries such as how the Elite is powered. Brilliant; love your sense of humour.

Thane says...
Great to hear. You will need to order soon though if you want to take advantage of the free delivery deal which ends this Sunday. Watch our channels for the offer code.

hi, i noticed customers have said about the previous model that the belt disintegrates, does this happen with time on the new model, how long should the product last if used every day, many thanks trace

Thane says...
As with all friction belts, continued use will slowly wear it down.
New belts are available from our customer services team.

hi i have got the obitrek elite how long should i workout for? as i want to lose weight quick?

The Orbitrek comes with a DVD that will help you in your training.
As with all exercise machines, you should never overdo it before you are ready.

Good Luck!

I just recieved my orbitrek elite and I was under the impression from the sales clerk on the phone that I had ordered one with a seat? Did she know what she was talking about? It cost more money per month. Let me know. Sheila

Sheila,

I am afraid you are mistaken; the Orbitrek Elite does not come with a seat. This would defeat the purpose!

i have spondilitis.....can i use orbitrek...is it suitable for kids also...my daughter is 9 years old...can she use it??...i want her to reduce her tummy...

Thane says:
We cannot comment on medical conditions - you must get a medical opinion. Your daughter may not be tall enough to use Orbitrek and although children should be encouraged to exercise, telling her she has a big tummy is likely to affect her psychologically, please be careful with this matter and let her eat healthy food.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Mar 5, 2008, 4:03 pm by Shola

Hi
The multi function monitor does it show calories burned and as a separate unit how much does it cost?

Thane says:
The monitor is only offered when you order the Orbitrek, it shows approximate calories burned as well as distance and revolutions.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 25, 2008, 6:08 pm by James

i am confused, i train on an orbitrek platinum for approx 30 minutes and according to the monitor i have completed 15 kms, but i have only comleted approximately 2940 "steps". however 15 kms is approx 16,310 yards which is a huge difference How is the distance calculated as i need to be accurate in the distance that i am covering in my training

Thane says:
Your confusion is that you have to think of elliptical training as more like the measurement of cycling not stepping as you are turning a flywheel like on a bike. You are saying you take nearly 3000 steps which is really 3000 revolutions and each revolution propels you approximately 5 yards if the machine was propelled by pedalling (averaged out it is a little more) so you are therefore covering 15 kms.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 18, 2008, 5:57 am by Phil

why buy orditreck instead of cross trainer?

Thane says:
Orbitrek IS a cross trainer...

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 17, 2008, 3:08 pm by Lynn

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 4, 2008, 6:29 pm by Martin

what is the discount code asked for in your checkout page.

Thane says:
Every so often we make offer codes which you may find when you watch our channel or sign up to our newsletter. The codes can get you discounts on postage or products. They are not always available and we do not give them out online or by phone, so please do not ask as we cannot tell you.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 3, 2008, 11:24 am by Avni

Hi, I am thinking of purchasing this and would like to know is this easy to assemble? as I have hasd problems with a cross trainer previously

Regards
Av

Thane says:
The Orbitrek will take no more than 30 minutes to assemble if you follow the instructions. It is very easy even if you have not acumen for this type of thing.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 30, 2008, 8:52 am by Fay

I have bought the new elite and am wondering if 45 minutes a day is long enough to start losing weight?

Thane says:
You must follow the diet plan and do not do too much at first - start with 10 minutes and build to 45 minutes.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 23, 2008, 3:19 am by Jim

i need a machine that can take my weight which is 24 stone4lbsif i buy the elite will the warranty be void because of my size

Thane says:
Unfortunately we cannot advise anyone over the maximum user weight to use any of our equipment. The maximum weight this product has been tested to is 18 stone. It may be advisable to contact your local gym or doctor for further advice and certainly call us when you are at 18 stone as we would be delighted to hear from you and get you fit in your home with an Orbitrek!

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 20, 2008, 1:41 pm by Denise

Spoke with one of your telephone agents today enquiring about the dimensions of the orbitrek. Was told that it actually folds. is this so as I have limited space. Thanks

Thane says:
The unit collapses in height but does not fold in width or length.

Dear Customer Service:

Will you accept a cheque from the United
States?

Thsnk you,

John

Thane says:
We will not accept a cheque from ANYWHERE! Sorry - Cards only.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 19, 2008, 6:04 am by Ralph

Does the Orbitrek elite come already constructed or do you have to do this your self?

Thane says:
There is about 30 -40 minutes of assembly if you are organised and follow the instructions. Sorry, it is not possible to get it in the post otherwise!

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 18, 2008, 8:44 am by Michelle

For example, if I order Tuesday afternoon will my order arrive on Thursday?

Thane says:
If you order on Tuesday using VIP delivery, it is possible that your order could arrive on Wednesday or Thursday. You may also collect your order from the local Citylink depot if you are able to and you missed their original delivery. We are sorry we cannot be more specific, it is not possible to make time specific deliveries cost effective as the delivery cost would be double. I hope this helps.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 18, 2008, 7:58 am by Michelle

I would like an Orbitreck delivered to me at a particular date; would this be possible?

Thane says:
It is not possible to have a date specific delivery but if you are out we will either leave with a neighbour if you ask or we can deliver to your work address or have it delivered to a friend. If you order using the VIP shipping you will get your order in 2 working days and often we are achieving next day delivery if you order before Noon (but cannot always guarantee this).

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 16, 2008, 3:36 am by Pran

I have ordered the new Orbitrek Elite and am expecting delivery today. Your warranty guide on-line seems to indicate that if a fault develops within the first year which cannot be repaired the item will be refunded/replaced. However it is the customers responsibility to return the original item and bear the cost of postage etc. Your customer care team however assured me on the phone that larger items like the Orbitrek Elite will be picked up and Thane will pay for the postage. Please could you reconfirm.

Thane says:
The warranty information on our website is very clear.
http://www.thanedirect.co.uk/warranties.php
On large items such as Orbitrek, we MAY use our discretion to decide if we will arrange collection which may be at the cost of the customer or may be pre-paid. This depends on many factors, not least whether the customer is polite. The general rule is that it is the customers responsibility to return items and bear the cost of postage, which may be refunded when the item is checked and a fault is found as described by the customer on the feedback form.

hi
sorry for the lack of info, i need a replacement belt for the old style orbitrek.mine has dissintegrated, could you please advise. regards
H.

Thane says:
The old Orbitrek Platinum has a different mechanism that the new Elite.
The resistance belt is like a brake pad and is designed to disintegrate over time as it gets use.
You must email Customer Service for a replacement.
http://www.thanedirect.co.uk/custservice.php

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 15, 2008, 4:15 am by Pran

Could you please list the differences between the Orbitrek Platinum and Orbitrek Elite so that I can make an informed decision on whether I should upgrade

Thane says:
The main difference is the resistance mechanism on Elite is more like a spinning bike and it totally unique to a cross trainer. This makes it quieter and smoother.
The Elite is slightly more compact also.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 14, 2008, 10:56 am by K

Please can you clarify how long I have to test the product when I recieve. e.g. if it is not suitable and I need to send it back, what's the time scale? Thank you

Thane says:
For Orbitrek you have 30 days. The UK standard statutory time is 7 days from receipt.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 14, 2008, 8:55 am by Angela

I bought one of your cross trainers from a market but when I got it home there was no bolts or fittings inside. When I tried to rteturn it the stall had gone, so I was wondering if it is possible to purchase these fitting from the manufacturer so I can use my machine

Thane says:
We only stock a small number of parts for genuine customers. If you bought a product from a market stall it is not likely to be genuine and we would urge you to check the serial numbers on the unit and email our customer service team who may be able to check this before we get you parts.

How is the Orbitrek Elite powered?
Mains or battery.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks

Thane says:
It is powered by YOU! It is not electric, you pedal and it goes!

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 4, 2008, 6:54 pm by Linda

I would like to order on the 3 easy payment how do i order? as the form only gives 1 total payment

You can only use instalments on Credit Card payments. If you try to use a Debit Card, it will not allow you to pay by instalments.
There is a warning on the checkout page regarding this.

Hi i really like the look of this and although i want to get fit, my main reason is too lose weight without building too much muscle as i am overweight, is this good for that too. Thanks

Thane says:
Yes, you can use this as a cardio workout and then you will not build so much muscle. Just keep the resistance on low.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 2, 2008, 4:35 pm by Chloe

i like the look of the orbitrek elite, i am very busy working and don't have time to travel to a gym after work and having the orbitrek at home seems the ideal solution but how long should i use the orbitrek and how many time a week so that you see results. I am unfit, over weight and ready to lose weight. Is it 10, 20 minutes a day seven days a week or do you end up working you butt off really hard to see little results. I want a piece of equipment i will enjoy and not get tired of easily and this does look fun, I have used one before and enjoyed it. I don't expect miracles but a little guidance on the amount of time that's required to see results would be helpful. thanks

Thane says:
You should work out as much or as little as you have time and can manage. 20 minutes of cardio a day is a great start but 20 minutes a week if you did nothing before is a benefit. Good Luck!

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Jan 2, 2008, 10:49 am by Patrick

is the orbitrek belt driven or magnetic

Thane says:
It uses the same technology as Spinning bikes so has a chain to drive the wheel and resistance pads.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Dec 31, 2007, 12:47 pm by Patrick

what are the dimensions of the orbitrek? is it belt driven or magnetic?

Thane says:
Height: 150cm / 59 inches
Length : 85cm / 33.5 inches
The Elite has a similar mechanism to a spinning bike and so the wheel is driven by a chain and slowed with resistance pads.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Dec 29, 2007, 12:34 pm by Lynne

Hi, when i use to go to a gym the cross trainer was my favourite piece of equipment.I am interested in buying the orbitrek elite, could you tell me how many times a week and for how long i need to use the orbitrek elite to start seeing results. Thanks

Thane says:
Well that depends on so many factors! How many times a week did you go to the gym before, how long did you spend there and how long did it take for you to see results? If you are committed to seeing results - they will come quickly.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Dec 28, 2007, 10:16 am by Elaine

How easy is the Orbitrek Elite to store and move around - not much room in my house

Thane says:
It is really easy to move as you tip in on to its little wheels and roll it around.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Dec 27, 2007, 9:33 am by Sarah

hey, in the new year i was going to start the gym to get in shape but it can be very expensive after seeing this product i thought it be good to buy this & dont bother going to the gym as it works all areas of your body. do you think this is advisable?

thankyou

Thane says:
Any exercise you do, is better than not doing any, if a product is in yoru home, then you may be more motivated to use it!

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Dec 6, 2007, 3:22 pm by Phil

hi, i was considering trying the orbitrek elite, but i was concerned about how much noise it makes. I live above someone, and I also wanted to be able to watch television while using it. the quieter the better.#

Orbitrek Elite is near silent in operation.

Currently, just from us.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Nov 28, 2007, 9:58 am by Jan

can yo please let me know the weight of the Elite - is it easy enough to move from room to room. thanks

The Elite weighs around 25kg but has wheels, so it can be tipped easily and moved.

Hi,i live in Jersey.can you please tell me if the VAT is deducted when i purchase as Vat isn,t applicable to any items sent to jersey, and will the postage price be the same as normal UK delivery?

Thane says:
The product is being purchased in England and so you will have to arrange VAT rebates upon receipt as we do not have the means to do this. The postage will be the same for one more week. After this we have been forced to increase prices by our courier.

I have degenerative disc disease and it has been recommended by my doc to do the kind of excercise the Orbitrek elite offers the only problemis I live in Fuerteventura In the canary Islands. How much would the P&P be as this would be a consideration for me. Thanks

Thane says:
I am sorry, you would have to arrange delivery from the UK yourself we cannot ship outside of the UK. We suggest you arrange delivery to a friend and then have them send the product. Alternatively, when you are on mainland Spain you may buy from El Corte Ingles.

Hi, i'm interested in buying the Orbitrek Elite, but just wondering if your core gets a workout aswell. Also is there an other Orbitrek in production?

Thane says:
The Orbitrek is not going to give a specific core workout like other products we sell do such as Pilates PowerGym or Aeromax. However if you hold yoru core muscles correctly during the exercise you will feel a benefit. The Orbitrek Elite is the very latest Orbitrek and although we are always striving to keep our range up to date, this product is only 3 months old and so will not be superceded for some time yet. This is only the 4th version in 10 years,

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Sep 8, 2007, 4:43 am by Pauline

I have just bought an Orbitrek Elite. I plan to use it for around 30 mins each day for 12 days. How much weight (in kilos) will I lose if I eat sensibly as well?

Pauline, that is an impossible question to answer having not met you and not knowing any of your medical history nor being qualified to tell you the answer. However, if you have truly made a commitment to use the Orbitrek Elite every day for 30 minutes and you eat sensibley and you do all this in the knowledge of a medical professional, then you are bound to see and feel an amazing change in your appearance and general well being. Good Luck!

I just bought Orbitrek Elite - I have been reading the user reviews however and they don't look good. The major concern is that the equipment breaks soon after you start using it. Have these concerns been addressed with the Elite and how?

Thane says:
I am not sure where you got your information from? Thane have successfully sold over 1million Orbitreks and have never had a quality problem. I think you will see that when you get your Orbitrek Elite you will see that this is a great product line. I have had mine for 10 years and it is still going strong and I use it every other day for 20 minutes.

No cross trainer can be flat packed but depending on the size of your car it can be easily dismantled and either put in the boot of on the back seat.

Hi,
Im very interested in the Orbitrek Elite but i have a question, what is the difference between this item and other elliptical cross trainers which you can buy for much cheaper on ebay? Also other Cross Trainers do the same workout as this item, am i right? Please get back to me as soon as possible.

Thane says:
That is like asking what the difference between buying a brand new car from a showroom and buying a second hand one from an advert in the paper. Thane have been selling Orbitrek Elipticals for 10 years, the Elite is a new design and unique resistance system. We make a lot of effort to test the safety of our products and conform to all British Standards that you may not find from other less reputable sources - so if you want value for money, a warranty, returns guranatee and safety guarantee - you shoudl probably buy from a trusted company. Thane are the designers, manufacturers and importers of the Orbitrek. I hope this answers your question. The workout is different on different machines depending on the actual oval movement and the type of resistance. Thane have sold hundreds of thousands of Orbitreks and understand the best way to make this type of cross trainer.

Bye

I purchased Orbitrek Platinum just under one year ago
I use it at least 4 times per week for 35 minutes a day and
I have had no major problems with it.
I am wondering if it makes any sense upgrading
to an Orbitrek Elite

Thane says:
Well, of course we woudl love you to buy a new one from us! The Elite is a new design with upgraded resistance - so maybe you can give you other Orbitrek to a friend so you can have the latest one...?

I am concerned about the resistance levels - I have a bad knee - I have used Orbitrek Original - will Orbitrek Elite be 'harder' on my knee?

Thane says:
The resistance is variable - you decide how hard or easy it shoudl be.

Is it possible to track the heart rate with Orbitrek Elite?

Thane says:
We offer you the opportunity to buy a heart rate watch with your order.

What is the difference between Orbitrek Elite and Orbitrek Platinum?

Thane says:
The primary difference is that the resistance mechanism on Elite is superior - more like a spinning bike - the new Elite is our best Orbitrek yet!
