why is it more expensive to purchase and for postage to buy direct from "Thane Direct UK" than from your ebay shop?

Thane Says:

There are unique order prices to be found online, and these can differ between the website and Ebay

Hi
My wife is pregnant. Can she use PPG during the pregnancy.
regards,

Thane says:
Your wife should seek medical advice about exercising while pregnant. Most of the time there is no reason why she would not be able to do Pilates and most doctors will encourage it.

I was thinking of purchising the Pilates Power Gym but as I need to tone up and lose fat around my middle especially AB area. I need to lose weight at least 2-3 stone . Is this the machine for me and will do all the things especially as I mentioned the spare tyre and the bingo wings. Would be grateful for any advice as this is not a cheap purchase and wanting to get the right equipment and also not a lot of space in my flat.

Thane says...
The PGG would be ideal for you. As with all exercise, if you put the effort in, you will get rewards and benefits out. We have heard of many customers achieivng great results from this machine.

Hi, this looks like a great product, and hope to buy it, but just wanted to check, just in case it doesn't suit me, wrt 30 money back guarantee, am I right to think that as long as I keep the original packaging, i can return it back with no additional cost to myself? (i.e. i will not have to pay for the return postage)

Thane says:
There is a back in the box guarantee, put the PPG back in the box and give us a call, we will arrange collection (weekdays only) from an address in the UK. Terms & Conditions apply but essentially you have 30 days to try it out.

Thanks

Hi there,

I'm very interested in this product naturally. Before I make my purchase, I was hoping you could kindly tell me the length between the bars where you place your feet, and the bottom of the shoulder pads when fully extended (to make sure I can fit between the two as I am very tall).

Many thanks
Helen

Thane says:
Approx 1.6m. It should be possible for even the tallest person to do most exercises.

Can you please explain why the Power Gym has to be stored flat? I am a bit limited for space, and although I am using my gym 4 or 5 times a week, it is stuck on the floor in the lounge, because I am worried about standing it on its end in the corner of my bedroom. Will it cause irreparable damage if I stand it on end to store it when it is not being used?

Thane says:
It is better to store the PPG flat as this is how it was designed to be stored. I have stored ours upright sometimes and it has survived but you have to be very careful as it can fall over and cause you and it damage and also damage your floor. That is the main reason why it is best to store it flat, You also have to be careful that you do not hurt yourself when you lift it or move it to an upright position. We therefore advise you follow the instructions.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 27, 2008, 11:52 am by Ed

hi. i tried purchasing the power gym 5 times with 2 different credit cards but couldnt succeed. any suggestions please

Thane says:
The Credit Card transactions are handled by Worldpay. They liaise with your card issuer and will reject your payment if:
1) You have no credit left
2) You mis-typed your postcode - the billing address must match the postcode on your credit card file.
3) You have not kept trying to use the card every few minutes (this flags the card as possibly stolen!)
4) You are using a card that has been reported stolen!

There are few other reasons but these are the main ones.

Try calling your card issuer to check if they see an attempted use of the card. This is something we are not responsible for - it is purely down to your card issuer I am afraid.

Hi, looking to buy the Pilates Power Gym.... but was wondering what the warranty is on the Pilates Power Gym

Thane says:
There is a standard 12 month warranty (terms and conditions apply) and you have 30 days to try it and if you keep the box, you can have it collected if you do not get on with it.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 24, 2008, 5:10 am by Kate

hi, do you ship to the channel islands?

Thane says:
Yes we do, but you must claim the VAT back yourself.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 23, 2008, 1:39 pm by Edward

i,ve tried 5 times with 2 different credit cards to pay for the piltes powergym and have had no luck

Thane says:
Our card system is secured by WorldPay. The details you enter MUST be precise to prevent fraud. Your billing address must be exactly the same as that on the card you are using and your name must exactly match. Any differences may invalidate your payment. These measures are for your own security.

Hi Thane. I am very interested in buyin the pilates power gym. I just want to know if you can do your calves with the gym. Also is the gym ok for people with hyper mobile joints?

Thane says:
Yes Pilates is great for calves. We cannot advise you on medical conditions - you must seek professional medical opinion for this.

Hi, I'm very interested in buying the pilates power gym but just have one question for you before placing my order - I notice from Dean's post on 5 Feb 08 that at 6'5 he's unable to do a full squat or calf raises. At 6'2 will I have the same problem?
Many thanks

Thane says:
It is very difficult for us to know as it depends if your length is in your legs or trunk. Bear in mind this is a very small part of the many exercises you can do with the PowerGym

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 18, 2008, 1:14 pm by Craig

will the pilates powergym build mucsle or does it just tone is there an excersice to build the butt muscle on this unit as intrested in buying the powergym

Thane says:
The Pilates exercises help build long lean muscles while the PowerGym exercises help build bulkier muscle. You can tone all over the body with both exercises.

Hi i have a pilates machine, but i am having problems as the board where you lay down seems to be too short, my body is either hanging off of sqaushed right upto the shoulder pads, and secondly i am experiencing pain in my tail bone when laying on it i.,e. applying pressure to it. Any advide or specific excersises? Thanks

Thane says:
The board is 90cm long, it is not supposed to accommodate your entire body. Just to below your bottom, as you see on the DVD we give you.
If your tail bone hurts it is very likely that you have injured it in the past as there is no exercise you can do on a heavily padded board that can hurt a bone. But in doing Pilates you will strengthen your core and so this should improve your posture and help prevent injury in future. Good Luck!

hi thanes well i have got my power gym and everythin is fine well more than fine but i noticed someone as put a question forward to you as to the max weight a person can be to use the power gym i thought it can hold up to 300lb but i see that you are saying the max is 18 stone well i am 20 stone not fat but alas i am at the end of the day 20 stone which is way below 300lbs please say that i will end up braking something with the power gym as i love it and want it to last for always

Thane says:
We have tested this to an EU standard called EN957. It is tested to 18 stone. That does not mean it will break if you are 20 stone, it is for your guidance and our recommendation.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 8, 2008, 11:33 pm by Eva

Use my power gym every day for 1 month. Friends think I've lost weight. I haven't, but I look more shapely and my strength allows me to run up stairs 2 at a time. Thanks for a great start! I love my DVD. The female instructor reminds often correct posture, etc. It's like having my own private trainer. Please make an intermediate DVD!!!

Thane says:
Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so you can easily look more toned, have less body fat and weigh the same.

What is the maximum a person can weigh to use this machine? I am very overweight and am on a diet - looking for the best cross/machine to buy at home

Thane says:
All our fitness products are tested to 18 stone.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 6, 2008, 5:50 am by Sandra

I recently purchased the gym, but whilst I am happy with it, after doing the DVD workout for a couple of days I noticed that I had pain in my knees. My partner experienced the same problem after using it. Can you suggest why this would be?

Thane says:
This is very simple, you should be using your core muscles as the base for the exercises. Try looking back at your technique and look at how Pilates is about breathing and strengthening your core, the movement must not be from your knees.

It should not be a problem to do these exercises, please do try the Pilates Power Gym and let us know if you experience any problems. Of course you have the 30 day 'back in the box' trial on Pilates.

hi i.m a guy of 6"4 in height and i weigh 20 stone and 2 pound and i.m quite a strong guy if i.m honest with the weights but i.ve come to a stage where i.m not getting bigger and i want to lose weight and tone up but still be big with it my question is can you get a real muscled up body thats not only big but very toned as well with the pilates power gym

Thane says:
The importance of gaining muscle is making sure you gain the right muscle!
Pilates is all about strengthening your core, which is really important when you build muscle as it keeps your body straight and strong from the centre. Pilates can be used to help tone and build long lean muscle. The power gym can be used for building bulkier muscle and then you should try Orbitrek for cardio exercise which will give a more rapid fat burning workout.

I'm interested in ordering the Pilates Power Gym, but the only day during weekdays that there will reliably be anybody in is Tuesdays. Is it possible to specify a Tuesday as a delivery date? Further, can am or pm delivery be arranged to guarantee someone will be in?

Thane says:
We cannot arrange delivery by day or time, it is too expensive and you just would not want to pay that much! Our courier will attempt delivery and will leave a card if you are not in or you can have the item delivered to a neighbour or friend who will be available in the day - or to your place of work. As a last resort you can collect the parcel from the Citylink depot on Saturday mornings or weekdays when you are free.

Do you deliver to the Isle of Man?

Thane says:
We can do.

I have tried placing an order but keep getting an error processing card payment. I have checked with card issuer and there are no problems their end. Is there a number I can call to place the order?

Thane says:
Hi! Unfortunately the problem will not be solved by talking to anyone. Our card processing is done by the same system and requires certain security checks, sometimes if your billing address does not exactly match what your card issuer has, then the card can be rejected. If you think the card as been rejected for no reason you should ask you bank about this and they must liase with Worldpay who are the credit card merchants who handle these transactions for us. We are sorry, but we have no access to any further information.

Im interested in purchasing this product but because im slim and find it hard to put on weight, will this help me gain muscle size and definition?

Thane says:
The Pilates machine will help your core muscles. The Power Gym will build muscle. It is an all round good machine.

I am extremely interested in purchasing the power gym. I have a few questions first though. 1) Will it help improve my posture? 2) I have downloaded the User Manual. In this it describes an optional push up bar - what are the benefits of this and how much does it cost? 3) The owner manual says a video copy of the DVD can be ordered - can this be ordered at time of purchase?

Thane says:
Pilates is a great way to improve your posture by strengthening your core. The push up bar is currently not available and the system comes with a DVD. We do not supply VHS anymore.

I want to lose 3 stone. Will working out on your pilates machine be sufficient to help me achieve my goal weight? Should I add some cardio? If so, how frequently should I perform the cardio exercises vs the pilates exercises?

Thane says:
You can do cardio work on Pilates, such as the exercise called the hundred. It is sometimes recommended to get your heart rate up to a fat burning zone before you start the regime, you can do this with some swiss ball exercises, something as simple as bouncing while sitting on a swiss ball can get the heart rate up sufficiently. The frequency of exercise is up to you and your goals and time allowances, be realistic and this will help you meet your targets and not give up through disappointment. Also, you shoudl follow a calorie controlled, healthy diet. You may want to look at this in more detail or ask your doctor to help find a dietician who can help you maintain a balanced diet while you exercise.

Thane says:
If you order to a BFPO address, we will send using a Royal Mail service. It is not a simple process and so the order may be delayed but it is possible. Just make sure that you add notes to your order when you are asked about this. We will call you if we have any problems as long as you leave us a telephone number!

I have just received my machine and it works like a dream. It would be useful to have a wallchart which displays the various pilates and strength exercises. Are there any plans for this? Also is there additional material for additonal exercises not contained in the manual?

Thane says:
Glad you like the machine. We have asked the product designer and they have no plans to make any additional training guides for us at the moment. We will keep asking. There are lots of exercises you can do and you should get proficient at the basic ones and then look at a few websites such as this one:
http://www.hermit.com/hermit/ref/reflist.htm
here you can get more exercises and instruction for more experienced users.

I purchased this product from you and only had it just over a week. So far so good. I am very pleased with it and the professional service you gave. I do have one query which relates to the ability to store the powergym. I believed that it could be stored standing up. It looks slightly different to the pictures on your sight and appears to have an additional metal piece which when one attempts to stand it up prevents it from being fully upright and so it topples over - thankfully I've caught it. Is this a different model? I would like to store it upright and would welcome your comments - Thanks

Thane says:
I am not sure what pictures you are looking at. There is no metal plate for storing upright. You would have to lean the PPG to keep it safetly upright. But we suggest you do not put it away as you need to use it as much as possible to get maximum benefit!

The footage say'a that the machine can handle users in exccess of 300lbs. Can you be more accurate as to the strength of the equipment please.

Thane says:
I am not sure what more we can offer without blinding you with science? All our fitness equipment complies with the standard EN BS-957. This product also comes with a 30 day 'back in the box' guarantee.

I am 6' 4" tall is this machine going to be too small for me to use?

Thane says:
The machine should be fine for you, there may be some exercises that are harder to achieve, but essentially it will work for most heights.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Nov 30, 2007, 5:39 pm by Craig

Hi there, i have just purchased the home gym, i have a slight slipped disc in my back and am wondering if i will be able to use the machine or should i seek medical advice? I really want to just work mu upper half of my body though. Kind Regards, Craig.

Thane says:
We must advise you talk to a doctor if you are concerned!

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Nov 28, 2007, 1:34 am by Jayne

I have just had a knee replacement and had spinal surgery about 2 years ago. I used to enjoy Pilates before the operations and wonder whether it is advisable to use the Pilates machine now?

Thane says:
You really have to ask your doctor, but if you are used to Pilates and you know your limits, you should be able to bring Pilates into your regime again.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Oct 1, 2007, 12:06 pm by DENNIS

Do you refund post&package for returns after 30 day free trial.

Thane says:
The offer on Pilates is that we will collect this item from you if it is packed in its original box and within the 30 day trial period. If after 30 days you do not want this item, you should email customer services (left panel on this page) and they will help you with the return which you should pay for.

I would not buy anything from this company as I bought an Orbitrek Elite 3 months ago, which broke and nothing has been done about it.

Thane says:
Well, what happened was, you had a problem with a bolt that went into the pedal, we offered to send a new part or even collect the product and replace or refund you but you decided that neither of these options were suitable. We are hoping that we can still help you resolve this and have tried to contact you on several occasions to help you and yet you are still refusing all 3 reasonable options (the part, the replacement or the refund). I am not sure what else we can do to fix this for you. I cannot think of a single retailer who would have tried to do more for you in this case and we look forward to finally making you a happy customer.
