Is the flavorwave extender ring made of glass or is it of metal?

Thane says... the extender ring is metal and will greatly increase the capacity of your Flavorwave Turbo

my 4th flavorwave recently died and i would like to get another one, but i want the orignal one with the dome not the bowl. do you still sell them and if so where can i get one?

Thane says... The current model with the bowl can do everything the old Flavorave could do but with the added bonus that you can cook casseroles, stews, curries, pasta bakes etc. directly in the bowl and serve them straight to the table! You can also pop the bowl in the dishwasher or soak it for easy cleaning. The old model is no longer available I'm afraid.

I find that the oven cooks from the top downwards meaning the underside is not getting cooked as fast as the topside. This means I have to keep turning the food over and in the case of stews & casseroles I have to keep stiring. A rotating base like a microwave should I belive cure this problem. Any thoughts or advice ?

Thane says...This is not a problem I've come across before. The three ways in which the Flavorwave cooks; Halogen heat, infrared & convection along with the inbuilt fan all hep to ensure even cooking, please contact customer service should you need any further help or advice http://www.thanedirect.co.uk/custservice.php

Hi there,

The halogen light switches on and off at regular few second intervals. Why does it do this and is there anyway to keep it on?

Thane says...this is completely normal, it's part of the design.

Posted on May 27, 2009, 6:30 am by Curtis

I have an original Flavor Wave oven with a plastic cooking dome. I do not have the luxury of a dish washing machine. Can you suggest a plastic cleaner that will dissolve the food scum from the inner surface of the plastic cooking dome. Or ... better yet, do you provide a glass dome as a replacement?

Thane says...we'd suggest the following method for loosening baked on food and oil from the inside of the plastic dome:
half fill an oven proof dish with water add a sliced lemon then cook on full power. The steam and acid in the lemon will help loosen the grim for easier cleaning. The lemon will also help the eradicate any lingering food smells. As always take care to protect yourself from the steam when removing the dome. Unfortunately we no longer stock this version of the Flavorwave oven so are unable to provide spare parts.

I purchased the Platinum oven and love it more the longer I have it. The only restriction to the food you can cook in it is your imagination.......... Just wanted to say that a popular shopping channel is selling an 11 litre capacity Halogen oven for £47.99 plus P & P - however, I can tell that the quality is not the same - its easy to see that some people would think it was the same - however having owned the 'real deal' from Flavorwave I can tell that other cheaper varieties are inferior! keep up the great work Thane - great producst - great service!

Thane says...Thank you Tracey for your feedback! We're glad to hear that you love your Flavorwave. It is a very high quality product, one very unique and useful feature is the that the cooking cavity is actually a dish rather than a lid, this means you can cook casseroles etc. directly in the bowl then serve it from straight from the same bowl!

I have the Flaverwave turbo platinum. I have noticed that the fan has got a bit dirty and has grease. Is there anyway i can clean it?
P.S: Can i use the h20 steamer to clean it?

Thane says...have you tried the self clean mode as detailed in the manual, the steam may clean the fan. Please follow the link to the online manual, you'll find cleaning instructions on page 10. The portable H20 steamer will also be perfect for cleaning the oven.

How does the Flavorwave bake on the bottom, ie., cookies, pizzas?

Thane says...it's safe to use conventuional bakeware in the Flavourwave for baking cookies, pizzas can be placed directly onto the rack as you would in a conventional oven.

Could you please inform me if it cooks microwave dishes from frozen and how long does this take. I am looking to replace my microwave and am looking for this to do all what your advert says it does plus all that a microwave can do.

Thane says... the Flavourwave can cook food from frozen and is also great for reheating. It uses halogen, infrared and convection to cook food rather than microwaves. This means it works more like a conventional oven...just quicker!

Hello There,
I was wondering if one can bake a cake in the FWT with metal oven-proof dish. Thank you for your answer!

Thane says...yes you certainly can bake a cake in the Flavorwave Turbo and because it doesn't use microwaves it's perfectly safe to use metal bakeware, tin foil etc!

I have now had the Platinum model for about 4 months. It is fantastic and very versatile. I roast and grill meats, potatoes done in various ways and bacon plus fish. One of the advantages never mentioned is that the cooker produces very little cooking smells so it does not send fishy fumes around the house.
Alli-in-all, a wonderful piece of kit ( and my large oven does not need cleaning !)

Thane says...thank you for your feedback, that's a great observation! And, yes, we agree that a clean oven is a welcome bonus of the the Flavorwave! We hope you continue to enjoy it!

Posted on Mar 27, 2009, 2:57 pm by Mike

I have the same question as the most recent poster. If I want to make a complete meal in the FWT oven there aren't any specific instructions for this in the recipe book or manual. There is only instructions for the foods individually. If I start with chicken on the bottom rack at 460 degrees, then want to add vegetables on the taller rack, at what point to I put it in the oven? The vegetables are supposed to be cooked at a lower temperature. Do I leave it at the higher temp or turn it down once I add the veggies? It would help to have specific instructions for temps & times when cooking more than just one food at a time. Thanks!

Thane says... we'd recommend turning the temperature down for the vegetables but to make an allowance for this in the cooking time for the meat ie. this will need longer. Unfortunatly we're unable to give exact cooking time as this depend upon what kind of vegetables you're cooking and how they've been prepared. The cooking guide included will give you a timings which you can then adjust to suit your taste and recipe.

Posted on Mar 21, 2009, 10:49 am by Tracey

how do you know how long to cook things and what temp as your receipe book doesnt cover basics like sponges. cheese on toast. microwave meals. so not sure what temp they need and how long to cook them for. do you follow oven temp and time on back of packets.

Thane says...Many basic foods & recipes are included in your user guide and in your recipes book. The general rule of thumb for adapting you own recipes, as detailed in your user guide is that the temperature will remain the same as for a conventional oven but that cooking time is less. You can check the progress of your cooking by looking through the glass bowl or by checking as would with a conventional oven. You'll become familiar with your Flavorwave in no time and wonder how you ever managed without it!

Posted on Mar 20, 2009, 6:22 am by Tina

when making stews & soup how much water can you put in bowl.

Thane says... the capacity of the Flavorwave is an amazing 11 litres!

Posted on Mar 19, 2009, 4:58 pm by Mr.parmar

i would like to know that can you use the extender ring with the platinum oven.because in the photo it looks like the oven has a fixed lid

Thane Says: Yes, the extender ring can be used with both the turbo and platinum.

Posted on Mar 18, 2009, 7:23 am by C

When cooking complete meals at same time ,what about the different temps for items

Thane says...the flavorwave comes with a high and a low rack for cooking entire meals. You would need to start cooking the item which takes the longest first on the low rack, then add faster cooking items later in the cooking process to high rack. For more details please following the link to our user guide http://www.thanedirect.co.uk/manuals/FlavorWaveTurbo.pdf

Posted on Mar 17, 2009, 12:05 pm by Vicky

please can u give me the diameter of the glass dome?

Thane Says: The glass bowl is 6.6 inches in depth and 12 inches in diameter

Posted on Mar 15, 2009, 9:48 am by Tim

I want to replace my micowave oven but was wondering if the Flavorwave could be used for heating TV dinners and if ok to put plastic, styrofoam, cardboard plates or bowls inside the unit.

Thane Says...any ready meal that can be heated in a conventional oven can be heated in the Flavourwave. While the flavourwave decreases cooking time like a microwave it uses a diffenrt cooking method to microwave. You can therefore use tin foil in the Flavourwave but we wouldn't advise using the kinds of plastics, styrofoam or paper that you'd avoid putting in a conventional oven. Please follw the link to the user guide to see full details http://www.thanedirect.co.uk/manuals/FlavorWaveTurbo.pdf

can I kwnow the weight of the oven please

Thane Says: the Flavorwave Turbo unit weighs 7.3 Kg

Posted on Mar 12, 2009, 10:27 am by Anthony

The glass bowl is OK to clean in the dishwasher, but are you able to remove the glass part of the lid to clean that in say a dishwasher? I know the entire lid cannot go in dishwasher, but can you remove the glass part of the lid in some way to clean that? Also, what are the temp displayed as on the controls, the ad on TV talks in 'F where I prefer the Euro 'C

Thane says:
We would not advise you dismantling your Flavorwave lid as this invalidates your warranty. The Flavorwave have F and C temp markings.

Posted on Mar 12, 2009, 6:41 am by Shelley

i have a halogen oven and one of the racks is for eggs, but i can't seem to find details on what temp to put them in at and for how long..... any help gratefully received.

Thane says:
It is dependent on how you want your eggs - cooking eggs this way is not faster than boiling but some well known chefs say that it tastes different. Try cooking for 10 minutes at 200degrees Celcius. On the rack turned high.

Posted on Mar 11, 2009, 6:44 pm by Dave

Great bit of kit, may i ask could one make toad in the hole with this cooker, which is sausages in yorkshire pudding, thanks

Thane says:
Yes, the Flavorwave will make toad in the hole but you must remember to preheat the oven so the bowl is very hot and the oil inside is also hot. Cook the sausages first and then add the batter towards the end - just as you would in a regular oven.

Posted on Mar 11, 2009, 2:27 pm by Carole

Does the platinum oven have the same carry to table handles? It looks as if the hood is connected, does the bowl lift out?

Thane says:
No, the Platinum Oven does not have the carry handles, but the bowl can be removed.

Posted on Mar 10, 2009, 12:47 pm by Susie

Can you tell me the height of the turbowave without the lid and if you can invert the lid during storage?

Thane says:
Approximately 20cm.

Hi, love my Platinum Flavorwave and just trying out new things in it. I'm curious about cooking eggs as the breakfast rack contains spaces for them. Will it cook them as if they are boiled?

Thane says:
Yes - it will be like a boiled egg - try them out and let us know how you get on.

Posted on Mar 10, 2009, 7:04 am by Mary

please, please, can i get a copy of instrustion booklet with recipes if possible

hi just wanted to know if you could use this as a rice cooker i.e using like 5 cups of rice 6 water nd butter would it be as affective as a rice cooker. thanks also wt if the differance between this and the nu wave oven

Thane says...one of the many differnces between the two ovens is that The Flavorwave allows you to cook casseroles, stews, curries etc. directly into the glass dish which can also be lifted out and brought directly to the table as a serving dish. Good question about rice cooking! We've never tried, our customers are also emailing with new and exciting ways to use the Flavorwave, so if any one has successfully cooked rice in it, let us know! Don't forget it come complete with a 30 day money back guarantee so why not give it a try!

Howdy,

I have never purchased something from an informercial. It was my boyfriend who got me the Flavorwave for christmas after seeing a MRT add on youtube. I must say it is AMAZING...It has become a regular Sunday feature at our home where we do a fantastic Roast in no time at all, we LOVE flavorwave and recommend it everyone!!!

Quick question, Is there a flavorwave chatroom you know of?

Steve Horn, Hillingdon

Thane Says: We are very pleased to hear that you are enjoying your flavour wave, how ever we don't have a flavour wave chatroom.

My partner bought me the Flavorwave Turbo Platinum oven for Christmas. Excellent results for roast chicken, pizzas, sausages, etc. However, would appreciate more information on defrosting. All I can find is increasing the time; is this correct? Also can I make curry sauces, stews in this oven? Thanks for your time and an excellent product.

Thane Says: with the flavour wave you can cook your food straight from frozen and yes you can cook curry sauces etc.

I have bought a Mr T oven in Des 08 from Makro Wonderboom in SA.
The oven works very well but I did not get a recipe booklet inside. I asked them to get me one but it seems they can not help me. Is it possible for you to send me one. My adress is PO Box 2270, Montana Park South Africa, 0159

Thane Says: Unfortunately we don't ship to address' out of the UK.

dear sir/madam-could you please tell me if you still sell the roast rack as it does not appear in the accessories list?

Thane says...your Flavourwave Turbo comes complete with a wire rack which is perfect for roasting! Why not increase the capacity of your oven with our extender ring kit? You'll be able to cook a larger cut of meat and all of your vegetables in one hit! Let us know how you get on!

I ordered my Platinum Oven and accessory pack on boxing day (26th) - it arrived today (30th) - WOW - what a great service especially as we are in the middle of the holidays! What can I say - its AMAZING. I did consider buying a JML oven at half the price but i am SO GLAD I DIDN'T...........this is by far superior - it looks classy and well made. My first trial was chicken - wonderful!!

Just 2 quick questions if I may ask: -

1) Can I use my silicon bakeware in my Flavorware?
2) The recipe in the handy dispenser which came with the oven states that that you can cook eggs on the breakfast rack (part of the accessory pack) - it doesn't mention if you have to prick the eggs before cooking - will they explode if I just put them in as they do in the microwave?

Many thanks and keep up the good work - your products are amazing and the service is excellent!

Thane says:
We try our best to ensure that our deliveries are fast, even over the holidays and our order agents and warehouse teams worked really hard to get your goods to you so yo can enjoy them straight away.
We are glad you like our Flavorwave oven, we have worked very hard to ensure it is the best halogen oven of its type and think your comments prove that we have achieved that!

In answer to your questions:
1) Yes you can use Silicone Bakeware - but we suggest that you are careful to use good quality silicone bakeware and do not put the silicone products too close to the heat element as silicone can still melt even in a regular oven or halogen oven - we suggest that you can use a common sense approach here.

2) You do not need to prick the eggs - this is a different type of cooking to a microwave.

Keep on enjoying your Flavorwave and lets us know how you get on.

I received a FlavorWave oven for X-Mas. I used it for the first time yesterday and made some very delicious and crisp "guiltless" fried chicken and perfect french fries . All w/o any oil or grease. This is an amazing product and I know that I will use it all of the time. I just love the self-cleaning feature. Two thumbs up!!
