Tobi Steamer is the World's first Portable Wrinkle Removing Machine!

Tobi is the FIRST and ONLY professionally powered, upright and portable wrinkle removing machine.

Click to view larger image of Tobi
Tobi Steamer is designed to wipe out wrinkles just like the professional machines in the dry cleaning and fashion industry. From casual wear to fine clothes, the Tobi is safe on all fabrics and gets the job done up to five times faster than ironing.

Tobi also removes wrinkles and unpleasant odors from all your household fabrics quickly and easily.

Tobi's professional steam power penetrates right through the fabric. As it releases the wrinkles, it also helps to break down and remove unpleasant odours leaving your cloths fresh and ready to wear.

EASILY REMOVE ODORS FROM YOUR CLOTHES, LINENS, UPHOLSTERY, BEDS, PILLOWS...

The Tobi will save you the time and expense of going to the cleaners. It will pay for itself in no time and end up saving you money.

Tobi uses only tap water no chemicals. One tank full of water provides a half hour of steam and when it's done just fill it up again. It will never burn or scorch your clothes like and iron. Steam is the gentlest and safest way to remove wrinkles. The Tobi plumps up the fibers in for clothes rather then flatten them like an iron. The Tobi heats up quickly - just 30 seconds.

Hi, I found this steamer iron online on ebay in Toronto, had it sent over to me in the UK. I bought a power converter but it didnt work; to generate the 1500W i would need a heavy duty converter! is there anything you guys can do to help?!

Thane says... To get the most from an electrical product, you really need to buy a UK model. Buying adaptors and converters does not always do the trick

I bought my Tobi about a month ago to groans of complaint by my husband that this was another gadget that would get stuck at the back of a cupboard. Well it won't actually as once I got the hang of it, i have found it to be a great gadget to have. It is less effort than regular ironing and you get through so many items before you realise and without the backache of ironing. I have even devised a way to do towels and bedding not on the bed. Just fold and hang over a trouser hanger. Easy. The thing that takes up the most time is putting your clothes on the hangers to start with but I have a solution, my teenage daughter likes to do this for me!

i have a generator system and am thinking of getting a tobi,
i know its 1500 watts but how many bar of pressure does it produce

Thane says:
The Tobi works in a different way to steam generating irons and so it would not be the same to compare Bar pressure, indeed it would be unhelpful to compare this.

Thane says:
You will get 20-30 minutes of steam depending on a few factors. But more than enough for a few rooms.

SINCE I'VE GOT TOBY. I HAVE'NT BEEN ABLE TO USE IT. THE HOSE IS TOO STIFF. IT'S NOT WHAT IT'S LOOKS IN THE PICTURE OR DEMONSTRATION. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO.

Thane says...
When you first get the Tobi the hose is stiff as it is cold. Just turn the Tobi on and let the steam come out and it will warm up the hose and become flexible.

I HAVE SPENT THE LAST FIFTY YEARS HATING IRONING. BUT I KNOW HAVE A TOBY AND LOVE IT!!! ITS QUICK, EASY AND WORTH EVERY PENNY. I WILL BE BUYING TWO MORE FOR MY DAUGHTERS FOR CHRISTMAS.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Apr 9, 2008, 3:37 am by Dolores

i would like to buy tobi but reading the comments the hose is short, are you doing something about it? have you considered making it longer?

Thane says...
If you are looking to extend the length of the hose, it may be easier to use the shoulder strap and take the tobi nearer to the garment.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Apr 6, 2008, 3:51 pm by Geraldine

I have had my tobi for a few months now, and love it! I will never iron again. It is so quick and easy. It can take a bit of getting used to at first but i recommend using hangers with clips on to hold your garments at the bottom to prevent burnt fingers.

Thane says...
Thanks for the tip Geraldine! It does take a little getting used to but if you persevere, once you get the hang you will never go back to an iron again!!

Hi,
I would like to buy the Tobi but am concerned about storage space. Is the height of the stand adjustable or is the height fixed?
What are the dimensions of the Tobi, height, etc.?

- The pole is telescopic from, and the total space used is just 2 sq ft of floor space!!!

Received my Tobi steam iron, today (Tuesday) ordered on Sunday, great service-Thanks. I agree it will take getting used to it. Very pleased on the finish to the garment. If you accidently put a crease in the wrong place you can just steam it out again and it does not leave a trace! Great for smock tops particularly if you steam from the inside. Only thing I'm having a problem with is the cuffs of blouses and shirts if really creased cannot get to the very end without catching my fingers, I'm sure I will find a way round it with experimenting. Just going to order the hangers. Once again thanks.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Mar 31, 2008, 3:49 pm by Steve

I'm considering getting one of these but first i would like to know if it is possible to use this on a dry clean only suit

- I do not see why this would be a problem; please ensure you read the Tobi instructions and the garment cleaning advice before you do anything

I love my Tobi but I am having a problem with it. It's not generating alot of steam. I have cleaned it using the vinegar/water solution but when you put it in the water tank, are you supposed to turn it on and reattach the hose because I don't see how it cleans it out. I have checked everything else and the hose is attached properly and I am not twisting the hose when steaming but I am not getting very good results which means that I am taking longer to steam everything. Please advise. Many thanks

I have just seen the Tobi ad on tv and it looks great! I really want to buy one but we have an 8 month old baby and someone on here said that doing babys clothes can be hard. Does anyone have any tips or advice on this?

Use a clothes peg to old the small items instead of your finger tips.

I bought my Tobi last week, I will say it does take some getting use to but once you get the hang of it, it is so much faster than a normal iron, i like to think i get a wee workout whilst doing the ironing!! if the pole wasn't so flimsy and the hose a wee bit longer this product would be totally perfect.
thanks thane overall i am really happy with my purcase my months ironing normally takes around 3.5 hours, with the tobi it was just over an hour!! amazing thanks

Im trying to order the Tobi steamer online and the offers you are stating such as the travel steamer and hangers are not coming up as included. How do I do it? Do you have a code or something?

When you click BUY you will be offered the extras, we do not automatically include them, it is your choice as to whether you want them...

I am serving with the British Army in Germany and so have a BFPO address. Could you confirm that you are happy to deliver to this before I order (no extra cost to yourselves, it counts as UK). Also due to the extra time it will take to get here, how can I get the 30 day returns policy from the web site.

I cannot order it from a German web site as, 1. I don't have the language capability and 2. proberbly don't have the right cards, whatever they may be.

Thank you

Thane says:
Often we can deliver to such addresses but we need to process this separately. Please email customer services as we have to use a special courier for military addresses.

I bought the tobi on sunday night and it arrived on tue vey quick delivery.I hate ironing with a vengance, this is fab it really works. The only problem i have had was ironing my quilt cover on the bed when i detatched tobi from stand water leaked everywhere and the plug was shut!!Hence i had soaking top and carpet! The pole i agree is also flimsy but the tobi definatley does as states well worth the money if like me u hate ironing. p.s. my ironing basket is empty my husband is still in shock!

Thane says:
We are glad you like the Tobi, it may be that the leak you experienced was because the plug was shut but not tight, you need to give it a little turn, often it is not shut properly at the factory and it is important to check.

Hi - I notice for hard water you say to treat as a Steam iron = does that mean you can descale the Tobi - as water very hard where I live - thanks

We meant that you should use either filtered, pre-boiled or distilled water if you are concerned.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 8, 2008, 1:36 pm by Anne

Reading queries of steaming to the bottom of a garment, might I suggest using a skirt hanger with pegs on it, clip it to the base of your garment, then easy to hold the hanger by the handle - no steamed fingers. Hope this helps.

Thane says:
Very good tip - Thanks!

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Feb 7, 2008, 7:32 pm by L

Hi, just got the Tobi. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but where the coil on the hose ends the hose tends to bend so completely that no steam can come out, and I have to straighten it. Also it makes a lot of gurgling sound - could it have something to do with the steam being trapped? I also get a lot of lumps where the water gets into the machine - is it because the water is hard?

Thane says:
When you first get the Tobi, you must set it up as we have shown on the instructions. The hose may be a little stiff at first, but once the steam is flowing, it will soften from the heat and will bend to the direction you want. The hose should never be bent so that steam cannot flow.
Just like an iron, the Tobi will 'gurgle' a little as water bubbles and boils especially at the beginning as water has just started to get hot and make steam and also at the end when the water has run out. Also, just like an iron, there will be some steam that condenses back to water as it flows and will give a little 'spit', especially at the beginning of use as the steam will be flowing down a cold pipe. Just like an iron, you have to let to let the Tobi heat up properly before you use it.
We are not sure how you got lumpy water? If you live in a hard water area, it will not affect the Tobi steam comes out as the steam will be pure but eventually you may get some residue in the Tobi heat generator unit, just like a kettle does.

I live in a very hard water area. Can you advise me whether the performance of the Tobi will be affected by the build up of limescale, and over how long a period before it becomes an issue, and what remedies do you suggest.

Thane says:
If you are concerned, you may prefer to use distilled water or pre-boiled (and cooled) water or filtered water (as long as the filter removes the impurities which create limescale build up. You should use the same precautions that you would for an iron.

Hi, I'm interested in the tobi travel steamer accessory too - can you tell me what power and performance this has compared to the normal tobi?

Thane says:
It being a travel steamer, Tobi Travel will be less powerful as most travel products are. The Travel Tobi is 650W versus the 1500W power of Tobi, but of course the Travel Tobi fits easily in a small bag, whereas the Tobi is not likely to accompany you on holiday unless have the complete Louis Vuitton luggage collection.

Although YES this product does do the job i feel that the pole/stand should be higher & the hose longer as when steaming jeans or trousers i am really struggling to get to the bottom of the garment without bending as when they are on the stand the bottom of the jeans are only a few inches from the bottom of the floor & if i pull them towards me without bending the hanger swivels right round & so in turn twists the jeans around, although the huggable hangers would stop the garments from sliding off etc they wont stop the hanger from twisting around in the hook, would really appreciate your response, thanks

Thane says:
Thanks for your positive feedback. I understand what you mean and we have sent your feedback to the inventor and designer. Hopefully, this small issue does not stop you enjoying using the Tobi.

Dear Sir/ madam.
Have just received my Toby Steamer. it is not as easy to work as it looks on tv, as well as hot fingers, i am getting wet marks on my clothing. and the stand is very flimsy and moves around a bit. am a bit dissappointed. is there something i am doing wrong?
Ann Stronach - Aberdeen

Thane says:
We have consistently said in this column that using the Tobi at first is going to take a little getting used to. Just like when you first learn to iron a shirt, there is a technique to ironing and to using a garment steamer. But once you have got used to it, you will find that garment steamers are very useful.
The main problem that we find people have is that they want to bend over to use Tobi, like they do over an iron. That is wrong and causes the stand to move around. The stand is not flimsy, it is designed to have some play so that the Tobi can be used correctly. If you are learning to use Tobi, try hanging the garments on a door first of all and then use the stand later once you are confident.
You should hold the handle in the correct place and then you will not get hot fingers, just like ironing, if you put your hands near the steam, they get hot!
You should stand up straight and hold the clothes in front of you as we show you on the accompanying DVD and also on the links we posted below.
The water residue from steam will drip if you do not hold the Tobi correctly. Irons also will occasionally drip water when they first start up.

HI
I travel frequently. Question on the voltage adaptor, you mentioned that the Tobi requires an adaptor between the UK, European, Asia and the USA regions. Can you advise on the adaptors that one need to purchase from the airport. Is it a step down converter adaptor? What sort of adaptors so that it does not burn the machine when used in those global regions. I am based in the UK.

Thanks

Thane says:
Well, on the basis that if you buy this item in the UK, it will be ready for a 220V electricity supply, you will need a UK - EU adaptor for European 2 pin countries. The supply in the US is 110V and so you do not need a step down transformer because Tobi in the UK is designed for more Voltage than the US.

I am thinking of buying a Toby, but, it is NOT the first and only. i had one about 10 years ago, although it cost loads more! They do what they say, but remember folks, they do not iron creases in so you cant press like with an iron. There are others available today, but they cost more. Eg http://www.morplan.com/ProductDisplay/Vitesse%20Steamer/364917/16251/349836

Thane says:
Thanks for your comment. The Tobi is the first and only portable steamer, no other steamer can be picked up and used with a shoulder strap like teh Tobi, which is what also sets it apart from the professional ones.
You are right, you cannot 'press' with it as you use a different technique to get creases back into garments, we have provided links to video tutorials below, which help perfect this technique. You have to remember that just like ironing, you have to find a way to use this that suits you.

Great fun and it does the job.. needs a littl getting used to but I love it,
Can i use this in my home in egyptI am unsure what the oltage is ther but they use 2 prong plugs that I get adaptors for.

Thane says:
Glad you like it. It does take some getting used to. There is a technique, just like with ironing.
You can use abroad with correct adaptor.

hiya, ive just recieved my toby today,it looks great but the hose is very stiff ..it wont hardly move..

Thane says:
It may just be cold, the hose should be slightly stiff and when it is warm it will loosen. If you have any difficulties just contact customer services:

I really want to buy the tobi steamer, but on your advert on TV it seems like the steam is not powerful enough. Is there a power steam button for that extra steam boost or is it the same constant steam thoughout the ironing process. Plus the guy on your TV advert seems to hold tightly on the garment each time he completes the steam action " is the advert trying to miss lead us customers in to thinking this item really works...I hope you don't mind me asking you these questions but I just want you to answer my questions before I buy. thanks Helen

Thane says:
Helen, we have had many happy customers and this product is also cleared for advertising by Broadcast Advertising Copy Clearance who check to make sure that advertising is not misleading.
It is well documented in the comments below that there is a knack to using any garment steamer properly, just like to iron clothes efficiently takes some practise!
There is plenty of steam to do what you need, there is no need for a steam boost as this is different to ironing where you also apply pressure to smooth wrinkles.
We never say this will suit everyone, but we know that we have many positive comments from people who prefer to use Tobi than iron.
The only way to know for sure is if you try it and if it does not suit you, we can accept it back, just call us and we will give you a returns authorisation. You can see how easy it is to return stuff when you look at our T's & C's.

I purchased a Tobi, was stunned at speed of delivery and how VERY easy it was to assemble. However, I am having 2 problems. I find that the stand is a little flimsy and am using the back of the door instead in an attempt to stop the huggable hangers twisting twisting. Have been impressed with how it copes with denim but the handle can get extremely hot - should I think about rubber gloves?

Thane says:
Thanks for your feedback. The handle will get warm but should not get so hot if held upright, if you have more problems contact our Customer Service team and we will happily help:

My TOBI works great I love it, only one major issue! It leaks water everywhere! what to do?

Thane says:
CLOSE THE PLUG! It is not leaking because it is broken, it because there is a plug which lets water out when you finish using it and you have not closed it!

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Dec 15, 2007, 3:25 pm by Tina

i sent messages last weekend cos i really need some advice. it would be great if you could e-mail me directly about the fact that my tobi is leaking from the bottom thanks

Thane says:
Thius is such a common mistake and we have covered it a few times. There is a small screw plug at the back of the Tobi. You must turn this so it is tight. Then it will not leak. The plug is there to emply water when you want to store your Tobi.

love the ease of this product but wonder if I'm using it correctly - finding getting a crease into stiff trousers is easier than getting creases out of an easy-iron shirt. often feels like not enough steam coming out but reading you other feedback this appears normal. any other tips for me?

Thane says:
You should take a look at the video links we have included below.

Our returns policy is set out in our terms and coinditions on this site. You are protected by Distance Selling Regulations as well.

Hi - does the Tobi really replace the need to dry clean for e.g. work suits?

Thane says:
It will not do stain removal but it will freshen suits if that is the reason you go to the dry cleaner. Most people take suits to the dry cleaner because they are worn a couple of times and need to be freshened up.

How would you iron a quilt cover? If you actually put it on the quilt & then iron it does it then not leave the quilt damp?

Thane says:
No, you are using steam which evaporates.

Does your iron leave them damp? The Tobi is the same as an iron but vertical, it does not leave clothes wet.

I am anxious to order a Tobi but cannot see the instruction video which is mentioned in other postings. Does this come with the order or is it on line?

We send you an instructional DVD but I have also added some links to other videos available online which show how to use garment steamers most effectively.

I have been thingking of buying a Tobi for a while now, I suffer from a bad back and cannot stand for long using an ordinary iron, is it possible to iron all types of clothing while seated. I have huggable hangers so there would be no problem there its just that with me having to be able to sit I would be worried that it would pull over on top of me when holding onto the bottom of the item and also that the pole would be too long for me while sitting. Any ideas would help. Thanks, Tony Martin.

Thane says:
Whilst it is better to stand using Tobi - you can sit to do it too.

Can I TOBI steam duvet covers, valance sheets etc while they are hanging folded on my airer? The frilly ones are so difficult to iron conventionally.

Thane says:
Yes you can.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Nov 1, 2007, 4:11 pm by Samantha

Just recieved my Tobi and Huggable Hangers today, I'm so surprised as they actualy work and as a person who hates ironing this is as god send, appart from the odd hot fingers. Instead of standing for two hours ironing i was done and put away in 40 mins .
Can you tell me how to steam the very bottom of clothing with out getting hot fingers please ? as your instruction video does not show you .Thank's

Thane says:
As you move down the garment the last section you should hold tight next to the point you are steaming. Also look in previous comments for links to other tutorials.

Hi have just received my Tobi 2 weeks ago & it is great! Only problem I have is as others in that the hanger swings around which is annoying - do you sell hangers that specifically fit the Tobi?

Thane says:
we really advise that you try the Huggable Hangers which we sell with the Tobi.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Oct 23, 2007, 2:05 pm by Les

re previous message about use abroad...I assume from the reply that the Tobi will work 'exactly' the same and all we need to do, to make the unit work in the USA, is add a travel plug that changes the UK 3 pin to the US system and no 'power' adapter is required

Thane says:
We advise that a suitable adaptor is a step down adaptor to ensure the unit works at 110V. You can buy these at the airport easily.

Good day,

We live in Holland and have bought the Tobi Steamer, unfortunately the instructions that came with the machine are in FRENCH, no- one in this household speaks FRENCH, is it possible to send us a copy in English either by E-Mail or post, we are quite happy to pay for this item.

B.Belcher

Thane says:
We are guessing you bought this from our distributer who ships to Belgium and Holland. The instructions are available here: http://www.thane.ca/manuals/manuals.php

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Oct 23, 2007, 10:04 am by Les

We travel between the UK and USA (Caribbean) a lot, we would like to take the Tobi with us, but arnt sure if it will work exactly the same with just a plug adaptor, given the UK 240 and USA 120 output.

Thane says:
You will need an adapter.

just got a tobi set it up an the water is coming out an going on to the floor. PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME.

Thane says:
Yes! It is simple you have not put the plug in - this is at the base of the Tobi and is used to emply water easily for storage. But it needs to be put in before you use it - I also did the same thing the first time I used Tobi!

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Oct 20, 2007, 7:05 am by Caroline

I am mainly interested in this product for its dust mite killing properties - the adverts on TV explain that the TOBI steamer does kill them in the mattress and pillows but I cannot see this in your advert on this web page - why is this important use not advertised here - or have I missed it somewhere? thanks Caroline

Thane says:
It is not a deliberate ommission and we thank you for bringing it to our attention.

I would like to know if you can use comfort vapouresse in the water tank, this is perfumed ironing water made by comfort

Thane says:
Yes you can, I use L'occitane lavender ironing water!

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Oct 20, 2007, 4:56 am by Helen

ive bought the toby iron and im pleased with it. but my back is killing me, ihave to iron on my bed as the clothes wont stay on the hanger how do i order the framed hangers

Thane says:
We are not sure why you would not use the hanging frame as you should not use Tobi on a flat surface - you are supposed to use it on garments while they are on hangers. Try our Huggable Hangers range.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Oct 19, 2007, 10:58 am by Bea

can i get the extra warranty after i have purchased the tobi so that can be sure that i am happy with my purchase.

Thane says:
Yes, just email customer services and they will set it up with you after you have purchased. Of course you will also be refunded for your warranty if you return the product for any reason.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Oct 18, 2007, 8:06 am by Karen

i have ordered this today, i am really looking forward to using it, i hate ironing and it really sounds great. from the comments it doesnt look like it will end up under the stairs like the ironing press i bought which is more trouble that its worth to set it up just for a few items. So i am looking forward for city link to call.

Reviewer's comments: Posted on Oct 15, 2007, 11:25 am by Miss

This is a wonderful product, Im a very "do it the easy way" kind of person and like things to be simple, and the Tobi is PERFECT! Easy to assemble and use and just as easy to put away - miles easier than a normal iron!! Especially when you have an ironing board that is wobbly!!! Once I get the hang of how to use it I think it will be faster than a normal iron!! The Thane service team are also very very helpful! A big thanks!

I love my Tobi. It took a couple of times to get the hang of it.When I worked out there was no need to pull the garment, just hold it steady, the hanger dosn't swing around.I hate ironing and this really has solved my problem. It heats up so fast and is so quick to use. I thought I would be wasting money, probably use once then get stuck in a cupboard.Even if I only want to iron a couple of garments it's no hassle to use. I have gone to work telling my friends I have found the ultimate solution for easy ironing and my uniform proves the point.
